The seventh International Congenital CMV Conference and 17th International CMV Workshop will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, April 7-11, 2019. The event’s aim is to help accelerate the prevention and cure of CMV disease by bringing the expertise of clinicians and scientists together in one forum.
Both international meetings have been combined in order to enhance the translation from basic research to clinical practice and vice versa to inspire basic scientists by highlighting the clinical problems and disease burden of CMV. The conference attracts approximately 350 attendees and is relevant to clinicians (pediatricians, neonatologists, gynecologists and obstetricians, transplantation surgeons and physicians), researchers (microbiologists, epidemiologists, immunologists and vaccinologists), public health professionals, childcare providers, parents, students, foundations and advocacy organizations, intervention developers, and providers and vaccine developers.
CMV 2019 co-chairs are Suresh Boppana, M.D.; Karen Fowler, DrPH; and Shannon Ross, M.D., of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s of Alabama.
